It’s hard to believe that Entrecôte only opened in 2015, given how the Parisian steakhouse and café has become such a part of the Domain Road identity. It offers a service continu menu from 7am until late at night, from croissant breakfasts through to the signature dish of pasture-fed porterhouse steak matched with bottomless fries and a small salad. Special mention goes to the happy hour from 4pm to 6pm, with its free-flowing Mumm champagne and freshly shucked oysters.

Entrecôte is a social scene as much as a bistro and it begins with the garden-facing terrace, the playground for a never-ending parade of handbag-sized pooches and their bedazzling owners. Inside, the vibe is convivial and the staff is suitably attentive. Private events can be catered for in the Cloud Room, for up to 14 guests, and the Balcony Room, which can hold up to 80 guests in a standing cocktail party. Booking this room includes exclusive use of the Victorian laced balcony overlooking the Royal Botanic Gardens.
