Following the success of its bakeries in Melbourne suburbs Carlton and St Kilda, Baker D. Chirico opened its Domain Road outpost as a pop-up before consolidating as a permanent store in 2017. The recipe of simply made baked goods done exceptionally well means this small store is busy from its 7.30am opening onwards. Being right across the road from the park also helps – it’s a great spot to pick up picnic supplies.

Crusty sourdough loaves, wholegrain breads and savoury pastries are all extremely popular; the sweets and dessert pastries are what many will come back for though. Custard-filled bombolini, almond croissants and raspberry tarts pleasantly pack the display counter, sometimes making for an agonising choice. Closed Mondays.
